Have you ever thought about the role of computers in lives of modern teenagers? It seems to me that they are dependent on computers and the Internet. As I see the situation they spend a lot of hours on-line chatting with their friends, watching videos or surfing without any particular aim from one site to another instead of going out with the friends, as it goes without saying that communication in reality is more pleasant and informative than communication on the Internet.
For instance my younger brother sits in front of his computer all days long. When from time to time I look at the screen of his computer I often see different Internet pages such as Animal tattoos gallery or something like that; it’s what my brother really likes. He adores tattoos and in some way tattoo is his hobby. If you could only see his special folder on his desktop! It seems to me that he has more than several millions of pictures of various tattoos (but luckily there isn’t any at his shoulders, arms, back or other parts of his body).
He often watches different videos on the Internet; some of these videos are interesting, funny or informative, but also there are a lot of useless and even silly videos. In such cases video services can be helpful; they save your time and at the same time they facilitate your choice. My brother finds such services necessary and very useful; and he managed to find several good sites that provide videos - “Free video” and “Free funny videos“. These sites are his beloved.
But most of all my brother likes to chat with his friends. Nearly half a year ago he usually spoke with them on the phone, but at present he prefers to use Skype. At first I couldn’t understand why but my brother explained me the reason. As it has turned out everything is easy - talking on the Skype he has an opportunity to see his friends with the help of a web camera. Our parents gave him such a camera for his birthday several months ago. It was what my brother really wanted and he remained satisfied!
And in the end I’d like to say that the Internet is a great invention of our century but it can be destructive for those teenagers who spend all their free time on the Internet!
